Hardware:

The unit looks familiar to anyone who have already worked with Kontrol S4, that there is not much of a difference. Even if you are novice user, this is much similar to the older versions that you had been using all these years, except that there are a few new additions and deletions, which you can learn in ease. The main difference with this Traktor Kontrol newer version with the previous version is the size, this is much smaller, but nothing has been changed much or no compromise has been made. For example, the input controls are pretty much the same, the pitch length knobs are of the same length and the vinyl effect jog wheels are identical in both size and response.

Some of the differences in this newer version of DJ mixer are that the deck controllers A and B are set to control by default, while the track decks C and D are only push buttons, which is more or less a dummy unlike the previous versions. With no mixer channels for the two sample decks, there is only a single volume control knob, with a button to activate each sample deck.

The rest of the space is being occupied by the ditching loop recorder, which can be tightened by removing the LED display along with the two FX control bays. What is not good in this piece is the filter knob and can achieve the same functionality using shift + gain, which is quite tricky. The biggest boon to this device is the overall size that you can do the shuffling using by even connecting to your laptop.

Software:

Kontrol 2 can be used as a MIDI controller, and in combination with Traktor Pro 2 this makes a complete DJ system on being connected to your PC or laptop. The software integration of this system is seamless and smooth, that which launches Traktor automatically open in a device that is friendly pre-configured. Usually this is used to work in two track decks, but in practice S2 makes much more of a sense as they are custom built giving them a cutting edge than the rest of the controllers, and to add to that they are two-decked.

Overall, the Kontrol S2 does its job pretty well, neat and clean that this is fun to use and comes with a great heritage. To simply state, S2 is one device that brings in all the previous successes of other devices under one roof.
