Arrandale chip – latest from Intel’s for Laptops

Intel’s new chip for laptop is “Arrandale”, a highly integrated chip from Intel. This chip is designed basically to meet the complete range of laptops from entertainment to business level. This chip will be available in market by the last quarter of 2009. This chip is the first one from Intel to engulf two core processors and a graphics function.

Intel unveiled this feature last week in a recent presentation at the Hot Chips Conference in Palo Alto, Calif. Other than this in a recent blog it has explained that this design will be the base for all new upcoming chips from Intel for next few months. The chips which are based on this technique are Core i3, i5, and i7. This product is designed using the latest chipmaker’s technology of 32- nanometer whereas the older versions of Intel chips were developed using 45-nanometer technology. And this is designed mainly for laptops as there invasion in laptops were not up to their mark. This chip is designed with more compromises. Also while developing it had many challenges and by overcoming all this is coming into market by this fourth quarter said Mr. Ashok Kumar an analyst at Investment Bank Collins Stewart.

Jon Peddie, president and founder of Jon Peddie Research, said that the chip won’t have greater performance but the price and power consumption will be less when asked about the question of its performance level as it has integrated in a high level.
Because of its new feature it has raised a lot of expectation and many Intel users are awaiting for its release and to know about its performance.
