Google is in the process of testing Google ads in Google maps in Australia which was the country involved in the development of this technology. New Zealand also comes under this category. People there can see the ads when they zoom up things in Google maps.
According to a daily in Australia, “Google is making sure that despite being “branding” ads; the messages are contextual and provide relevance based on the search keywords.”

It is a bit of clever thing from Google in support of its publishers because when people search for something in maps and if they find an advertisement related then there is no doubt that they will click through that. It is expected that these ads may take a spot in smart phones of US guys soon and gradually in other countries as well.
