HTC HD2 Android and Ubuntu available for download

This is end of an era for the legacy of Windows Mobile handsets running open sourced operating systems. While Windows 7 is going to the horizon, the HD 2 has come in to extend the era of OS a little longer than expected.

You will be able to install either Ubuntu Karmic Koala or Android 2.1. However, these builds for HD2 were widely available for their customers, in spite of the fact that they were not risk free completely.

As they both do not touch the phone’s internal flash, WinMo could be easily installed just by resetting the phone once more. The downloads are readily available in the website:

  1. I bought my HD2 almost month ago, already got lot of apps on it however want more of course. Still need to in finding higher PDF reader, with better fullscreen mode and multitouch. Planning install android on it but it’s going to be now not very soon.
