Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela became the No.1 tweeter in the whole country with less than 2 weeks after he joined Twitter. He stated twitter as “Tool of Terror” before he joined but now he says Twitter as “a weapon that also needs to be used by the revolution.”
There are about 237,000 followers following him in his “chavezcandanga” account since he joined Twitter on April 27th. He got more than 54,000 messages in the past two weeks from his supporters and his followers. It is obvious that it is not possible to reply to all the queries by a single human. So he has formed a team of 200 to respond to all the messages.
Hugo stated that, “I’m creating a team due to the avalanche of requests, and some grievances,”
People of opposite parties started criticizing about his joining in twitter. “I’m not thinking about following him (on Twitter) because I don’t care about what he has to say,” Opposition lawmaker Juan Jose Molina said.
Hugo responded for this as “Some criticize me, others insult me. I don’t care,” he said. “It’s a form of contact with the world.”
