India Post account on Twitter

India Post made a very good thing by starting a twitter page before 3 months and from then they are using it as a very good tool. A recent tweet says that if users want to file any complaint or raise any query then contact through Post@PostOfficeIndia.

People can share their views, ask queries, post negative comments and anything related to India Post. One sad thing is that the Twitter page is managed by a single guy who makes the job tough and the response gets delayed. It is obvious that the job will be tough.

Radhika Doraiswamy, Seceratary, India Post said that they started this account to promote International products but the negative comments flowing in can help them to correct them. She also added that this is a good opportunity to make them right. The account currently have 1,164 Followers.

Boy oh boy, talk about putting lipstick on a pig! In my lectures, I classify them as a PERMANENTLY FAILING ORGANIZATION. On the Titanic, they would be busy rearranging the deck chairs after the ship had collided with the iceberg.

Its a good initiative. But we have to wait and see how well India Post deals with the negative responses and are corrective measures will really be taken given the ever rising complainnts against govt. organizations.

My experience says otherwise! At least, being in the USA for nearly 10 years now and tracking several speed post packages (mine and friends') sent from India to the USA, I can confidently tell that India Post is much better than USPS! USPS didn't facilitate tracking of international speed post until recently (or not yet?), while India Post had it in place even 10 years ago, and it worked perfectly well, and in a way we never needed it because all packages were promptly delivered within one week!

India Post getting to social networking is definitely a welcome sign, I'd say. Yeah, there'd be initial glitches – with one employee delaying responses, not being able to keep track of hundreds of feedback messages, and so on – but I am sure they'd iron out all these! Being optimistic is not a syndrome, but the otherwise is, IMHO.

I welcome this initiative and am sure IndiaPost will do much better if they can make sense out of the free consulting they can gather from tweets and turn these into actionable improvements for the organization. They have done remarkable in the last decade in terms of mordenization – be it the IT penetration or using their network of PostOffices with innovative service revenue models like liaising with Western Union, Bill Pay services, etc. Things have been improving even at the offices, atleast at the major post offices. It's been slow but the revolution is on and so has it to be for the next maybe 2 decades because we are talking about a organization which is only next to Indian Railway in terms of its employee strength and pan-India network. Consider this they have close to 1.5 lakh postoffices and almost all of these also serve as Postal Savings Bank for the poor and illeterate. There penetration is so deep where till now even the public run banks like SBI, etc. have not managed to service.

…CONTNUING WITH MY ABOVE COMMENT….>>> We in urban India has seen so much, so good and so fast that we mostly happen to overlook what these so called backward institutions with all its bureaucracy and lethargy still manage to do to sustain and run this country. I once again salute their spirit and request all to pour in your feedbacks/tweet to help on our part.

This is a good initiative. Atleast the organisation shows some concern to stay ahead. Though I dont use them much anymore (since I started emailing my grandpa). But from what I hear, they are pretty reliable.

Absolutely ! My experience with Speed post has been excellent .. I do not have to worry if my post gets delivered or not as I am sure it will be … the one time, my post was not delivered .. or rather delayed … i could track it with GPO, Mumbai with the consignment number.

The senior citizens are not treated well in post offices…A separate counter as in Railways is necessary for seniors particularly at places where they withdraw pension or interest and do such transactions. There isno provision for them to sit…Separate benches and counters are necessary. If possible courteous staff can attend to them….The deposits they keep in Po savings are quite substantial…

  11. Prakash Prakash says:

The concerns raised at the post offices may not reach the Top Level Decision Makers, whereas this kind of initiatives would reach the Top Level and suggestions like Mr.Venkat's may be implemented across the country. I definitely welcome this.
