Intel to release x86 compatible version of Android 2.2 later this summer

Intel conformed that it is close to release the Android 2.2 to the Intel Atom and other x86 platforms. According to Intel’s VP of Software and Services, Renee James, Intel will be releasing its x86 friendly port of Froyo to the masses via the Android open Source Project this summer.

The release will open the door for the manufacturer eager to release Android powered Netbooks and tablets. It will also allow the developers to design apps for the x 86 platforms. The user can soon be able to purchase the one directly from Dell. This sounds like an Android user’s dream come true.
