Nintendo announced Tuesday that it will introduce a handheld 3-D gaming console that can be used to play games to get the 3D effect without the use of any special glasses.
A press release by Nintendo unveiled its launch of 3-D gaming console in the market pretty soon however it did not specifically state how the 3-D effect would work in the gaming console. The 3-D entertainment craze among kids grows high as days pass by and this is a good move by Nintendo to meet that needs.
According to the officials the console won’t go on sale till June. Nintendo also said that it will announce more details at the E3 trade show, to be held in June 15-17 in Los Angeles, New York, USA. Earlier this year, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said, ”I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home. How is that going to look to other people?”

The new 3DS is expected to be compatible for the backward versions also i.e., allowing users to play DS and DSI games. The 3DS name itself is a temporary name which will be there till the official name is revealed at the E3 convention.
Nintendo’s official news says that 3DS will go on sale before the company’s next financial fiscal year ends i.e., before March 31, 2011.
