Android 2.2 Froyo is slowly but steadily capturing the eyes of mobile lovers with its 7 exciting new features which is even missing in iPhone. Here are the 7 reasons which pull people towards it,
1. Flash 10.1 Support: Flash support is not provided in iPhone and Steve confirmed that it won’t receive as well, but on the other hand fledged support is given by Android 2.2 Froyo.
2. Tethering: USB tethering is possible in Android 2.2 by which you can use your phone as a modem in the computer.
3. Wi-Fi Hotspot: if you go inside the settings you can see an option called as Wi-Fi Hotspot which gives WiFi access to devices. This is not present in iPhone.
4. Applications: iPhone allows you download only limited applications approved by Apple but you are free to download anything here.
5. Multi-Tasking: Sorry this is not available in iPhone.
6. Browser support: iPhone gives you only with Opera and Safari but Android 2.2 Froyo gives you the support for Firefox and Opera browsers.
7. Multi-Carrier: You can use your Android device with any carrier as you want.

Here is a video which explains the feature of Android 2.2 Froyo working on a Nexus One,

Read the early reviews about Flash 10.1 performance on Froyo. Maybe Jobs is right…
Perhaps you should read the comments that are out and available right now. Flash 10.1 is running SUPER smooth on the Nexus One. Jobs just has to put his head between his legs, and kiss.
Flash sucks, period. Even on a macbook it lacks hardware acceleration. I'm sorry but you come off as if you just don't like Steve Jobs.
As much as I love android (it is pretty great). This list does seem to be clutching at straws:
1. Flash. I've tried it in froyo. Video is choppy, interaction is clumsy. Steve Jobs is right – Flash doesn't belong on phones.
2. iPhone has officially supported USB tether for longer than Android.
3. True
4. True
5. Yeah but it will be available in the iPhone OS 4.
6. Not a huge deal. Mobile Safari is pretty nice.
7. Only if you get an unlocked phone. I'm sure you can get unlocked iPhones, and besides they are available on many networks now. (In the UK they are available on Orange, O2 and Vodafone).
I'd add some other things to why Android is nice:
8. More handset selection (not everyone likes the iPhone hardware, nice as it is).
9. Better security architecture. On iPhone I think once you have installed an app it can do what it wants. Not so on Android.
10. Cheaper developer fees – $25 ones, versus $100 per year!!
11. Can develop on any platform, not just mac.
12. Supports USB mass storage (wtf iPhone?)
13. Can use SD cards.
14. Can easily make/install custom roms.
There's probably more advantages, but then there are disadvantages compared to the iPhone too.
1. Crapper development environment (seriously, Eclipse is shit).
2. Forced to use Java, instead of the far superior C family.
3. Non-native code = slower (especially before froyo).
4. Even Android 2.2's UI is not as smooth as the first iPhone.
5. No bluetooth hid support.
6. Fewer quality apps.
7. The first iPhone *still* has an unsurpassed touch screen.
“6. Browser support: iPhone gives you only with Opera and Safari but Android 2.2 Froyo gives you the support for any browsers.”
so from this i gather that i can run internet explorer on android 2.2 froyo? and also firefox perhaps?
On Firefox
@no-one Actually you can run FireFox. Check your facts.
Yea that is what even i told
We can run Firefox
Oh man. This Android thingy is becoming more and more exciting with each passing day. I am feeling bad about having an iPhone right now. Google, gimme some more apps and games and I am all yours!
Flash 10 and multitasking are a huge points for me and Android delivers. I know flash is buggy but atleast it’s still there.
Yup. flash is still beta. But still having a little flash is still way better than none at all… Besides I don't use my phone to watch flash videos all the time thank god for the laptop. Its nice to visit websites which have flash content and I dont see x marks or boxes and then directing me to adobe to have the flash installed.
So happy with the support of flash, at least for now while html5 is not that popular yet…
However, I do agree that the quality of apps in iphone is still unmatched, and that's because of the limited memory storage for android on previous versions. Now with froyo, im so excited what the devs can do… and whats more exciting that you practically have unlimited storage since most android phones have removable memory. Yummy!
Steve better get multi tasking in 4.0. Cant imagine having a smartphone without it. Anyway steve was known to leave out basics like "cut-copy-paste" and SMS forwarding in 2.0. He sure got the UI which still no one has surpassed as continues to rule the roost, but not for long… Android's catching up for sure…
Those are all great things but, I don't think Android will ever have the polish of Apple's products. That being said if you're into customizing all that PC type stuff then I could see Android being for you. Isn't multitasking coming in iOS 4? Android won't catch up, at least I believe. I think there's the android crowd, and the iPhone crowd. Most people don't like tinkering with their smartphone, they just want it to work. So for a majority iPhone's seamless design is a perfect fit. App Store, iBooks, iTunes… they're standards now.
On a side note, it gets kind of old seeing articles about the iPhone being "dethroned". It hasn't happened yet and I doubt as long as Jobs is around it will happen. I'm not a fanboy, I just know a good product or two when I see it. Bu it doesn't take a genius to see that the guy who invented the first really usable smartphone knows what he's doing. RESPECT Aiiiight!
Unhappy for the brobdingnagian accounting, but I’m really crazy the new Zune, and hope this, as healthy as the superior reviews otherwise people score , module work you settle if it’s the change pick for you.
