Hey if you are a HTC Hero user then take up your phone and update the latest version in your phone. Sprint has released a new update when it released for HTC EVO 4G. The update is makes the system 2.27.651.5 to 2.27.651.6.
If you want to update it then go to About Phone > System Updates > HTC software updates and follow the messages. The update will go for 5 minutes time in the background but still you cannot make any calls or use the phone.
There is no clear information in the Sprint’s site about what this release will update. If anyone has installed then please share what it does.

It’s telling me that there are no available updates (firmware, that is), and its not like I am already running on an updated phone, since it is still the .5, not the .6 it should be updated to.
I updated it yesterday and it makes the phone a lot faster and snappier. The bluetooth works better and the all around function of the phone is better.
Yeah, I'm definitely curious to know what this might affect before I pull the trigger.
I did the update right now, and I haven't noticed any changes I'll keep checking.
From around the web the talk is that it patched up a whole that enables users to easily root the system. Now I have no real confirmation of this but I have been sniffing the web for the details.

My Hero (2.1) was slowing down to a dead stop and needing reboots twice a day, now, since the HTC patch it seems very fast and snappy again. What else it did is still unknown. Still testing.

Seems to be quicker. Since my 2.1 update my phone was slow now quicker.

Hey…same problem. my phone says that my firmware is still version 1.5. but it is also saying that there are no firmware updates. Is it possible to just connect my phone to the computer and try to update it that way?

I have the same deal as sonia
You have to do that new 2.1 update to get the software upgrade. If you have the 1.5 it won’t work. Also all the update does so far to my knowledge is speed up the phone meaning no more freezing any slug.
