There is a talk that Windows cannot be overtaken by Linux but of course Linux lovers say that it is possible. If you take an overall survey then windows will definitely have an upper hand and that has been confirmed a latest survey by IDC as well. The report says that Windows has widened itself to an unreachable extent.

As if now Windows has 75.3% of Market share while Linux has 20.8% and finally 3.6% for UNIX. If you compare Windows and Linux reports it is something unmatchable. This is something substantial and in terms of revenue as well. IDC report also says that Linux is not dipping down but the growth % is less when compared to Windows server.
