Stealth Technology and its Uses

Stealth technology is also known as low observable technology which is used in military aircrafts, warships, submarines and missiles. The main purpose is to escape from the enemy targets such as radars, sonar, infrared instruments and other detectable devices.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS:

USA has developed this kind of technology in the year 1958 to protect their military equipments from the enemy. Earlier attempts were taken by soviet Russia with their spy aircraft U2 but it was unsuccessful .The main concept is to escape from the enemy radar by doing changes in the structure of aircraft by applying radar absorption material. This helps to scatter and absorb the radio waves so that enemy cannot detect the aircrafts mainly used during war seasons.

STEALTH TECHNOLOGY IN AIRCRAFTS:

This technology is mainly used in famous US aircrafts such as F22 raptor , B-12 Spirit bomber, F 35 lighting etc.

COMPOSITE MATERIALS USED IN STEALTH TECHNOLOGY:

This kind of aircraft uses special paints that contains composite materials which is used to absorb radio waves from radars and also it will not allow radio waves deflect back to its radar. Thing to be noted here is that it will convert it into heat.

STEALTH TECHNOLOGY IN SHIPS:

This technology is applied in war ships , submarines to escape from the sonar systems. Visby corvette is the first ship that entered into the service provided with stealth technology other best example for the stealth warships are French Fayette class frigates , US Michel bay etc.

ROLE OF ACOUSTICS:

Acoustics play a vital role in the ground devices and also under water submarines. The submarines major parts are coated with rubber to prevent noise that can be easily detectable by passive sonar arrays.

IN STEALTH AIRCRAFTS:

Major stealth aircrafts uses matte paints and also dark colors this kind of stealth aircrafts are used only at nights so that it cannot be detectable. Nowadays modern stealth aircrafts are used in day time by using special lights which gives mask like structure so that it can be used in day lights.

Infrared technology is used to find the stealth aircrafts by sensing the heat that is emitted from the aircrafts. To solve this problem engineers has developed a new technology the gas that are emitted from the aircrafts are cooled so that it will be observed by the atmospheric water and carbon. Also coolant oil is used in the tanks so that rate of heat will be declined to that extent enemy cannot find the aircraft. There are some other problems while designing stealth aircrafts .The emissions of heat from the onboard computer systems also from the aircraft radars this should be overcome here. Stealth aircrafts like F117 uses special tactics so that enemy radars cannot find the appropriate routes. It helps the aircraft to destroy the enemy targets by surprising attack.
