Microsoft Corporation has launched its new operating system for mobile which is known as windows 7 series, is the successor of windows 6 operating system. This OS is based on windows CE 6 kernel having similar features like Zune HD. The company has showed its new concept in the mobile world conference that held in Barcelona and also they announced that first mobile to have windows 7 is going to arrive on this shopping season of this year 2010. This operating system will be entirely different from its previous versions, this will be having new user interface with touch screen input i.e. Finger based, also there will be social networking sites which will be integrated with this operating system. Zune expansive and x box components are provided in this operating system, also company is very strict about hardware requirements that was satisfied by their partners. The company has planned to give license for many vendors to manufacture the suitable hardware for this operating system. The main concept of the phone is to satisfy both business work and also games that can be played with help of their software particularly Xbox games.

Hardware:

Microsoft Corporation had decided to play a role on dictating the hardware that is to be used in their software. There is still no official hardware for this operating system. Garmin and ASUS has designed a prototype hardware slab that are being used to show their demo but still this hardware will not be used .Companies like LG and Samsung has come forward with a prototype model that can be used in future but it is not a confirmed information.

1. Minimum display resolution is 800*480 pixels with WVGA display having multi touch screen.
2. Basic buttons like start, back, search, camera and power on present in the hardware.
3. Multi touch screen should recognize minimum four contact points.
4. Qual comm. Snap dragon having direct x 9 support will be the minimum configuration of the CPU. It is flexible so that we can add other chips in the future as well.
5. Minimum RAM should be 256 MB.
6. Default memory of the mobile is 8GB or it can be more so that there is no need of micro cards.
7. Phone supports WIFI, AGPS, accelerometer, fm radio, 5 Mega pixels with auto focus.

What’s the software like?

There will be no start menu, drop down box, checkbox, radio buttons and list of icons. In this new operating system there will no icon grids, no pull down menus, and no task manager is provided in this operating system instead there will be new features that will over take the basic tools that are used in the application. These new concepts are very new similar to Zune HD having implemented certain new concepts like windows media centre user interface which is type and motion interface that is primarily based on colors having bold text that trails off the screen and also menu will come dimensionally in and out instead of side by side. There are two themes in this operating system that can be used as home screen. Light text with dark back ground and dark text with light background and also we can change the text and background color to red, orange and blue. You can easily unlock the screen like Zune HD by clicking and dragging the image of the unlock button in the upward direction with help of the finger also you can view the time, date and upcoming calendar can be viewed by this method.

Windows 7 operating system is unfinished because there are lots of test to be undergone to complete this operating system and also user interface and its components has to be tested seriously .The touch screen is not giving sufficient result while it is scrolled and tapped to select the menus.
